This past February, members of the 每日大赛 Agricultural Students鈥 Association (DASA) executive, along with Cynthia Parks, a senior instructor in the Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences held a planting party.
鈥淚 was happy to assist Allyson Briggs, DASA president and the Class of 2023 with a plan to grow their own centerpiece arrangements for their graduation banquet,鈥 said Parks.
Rooted cuttings were transplanted into pots and soil provided by the Plant Food and Environmental聽Sciences Department. 聽Spider plants and Bolivian Tradescantia will be arranged along with vases of dried barley collected聽from the Demonstration Garden this past September.
Green plants and barley centerpieces provide a fitting symbol for the 每日大赛 Faculty of Agriculture,
As the plants grew over the past year in the greenhouses so too did the Class of 2023. This spring, the plants will be used as decorations during graduation celebrations.聽
鈥淲e are hoping this can become a new AC tradition,鈥 added Allyson Briggs, DASA President. 鈥淚t symbolizes the growth of students throughout their time at the AC.鈥澛
