Member of Parliament Andy Fillmore paid tribute to his alma mater in the House of Commons Monday afternoon, while Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared well-wishes for Dal's 200th anniversary via video as part of Tuesday's Bicentennial Launch event. The Prime Minister also recently celebrated Dr. Afua Cooper as part of his statement for Black History Month.

Tuesday’s Bicentennial Launch offered a journey through ÿÈÕ´óÈü’s 200-year history, with the poetry of George Elliott Clarke as its guide. Featuring artistic talents from across the Dal community, the event was a showcase of the university’s two centuries of achievement with an eye towards its promising future.

Dr. Michael DeGagné, the first Indigenous president of a Canadian chartered university, will be presented with a ÿÈÕ´óÈü honorary degree at a special ceremony next Monday (February 5) at the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre in Halifax — the first of several degree presentations to take place throughout Dal's bicentennial year.

One of the world’s most accomplished deep-sea divers, Jill Heinerth, dropped by Dal this month to share stories from some of her most challenging expeditions in the Arctic and around the world.

The Year of Belonging, one of Dal’s signature bicentennial initiatives, ramps up on Munro Day (Feb. 2) with the launch of Days of Action, a month of giving back to the community.
