ÿÈÕ´óÈü offers the only 3-year speech-language pathology program in Canada. Your first year gives you a strong foundation that prepares you to specialize in speech-language pathology.

In this field, you’ll learn to assess and diagnose communication and swallowing disorders using specialized techniques, then develop and deliver personalized treatment plans. You’ll help clients improve how they communicate, introduce alternative communication tools when needed, and support individuals and families throughout their care.

You’ll collaborate with other healthcare professionals by working inÌýourÌýin-house clinicsÌýas well as a variety of other settings as well as educators to promote inclusive, effective communication strategies, while contributing to research that advances how these disorders are understood and treated.

Upon graduation, you'll meet the academic requirements to apply for certification withÌýÌý(SAC) and for licensure in regulated provinces across Canada.

Graduates from ÿÈÕ´óÈü have a strong track record of securing employmentÌýin a range of settings, includingÌýhospitals, community health centres, rehabilitation facilities, private clinics, schools, and universities, soon after graduation.

Program options

Course-based: Complete academic courses and multiple practicum placements to gain real world experience. Ìý

Thesis: In addition to the program completed by non-thesis students, you will complete a MSc thesis in an area of your interest, supervised by one of our faculty members.ÌýThesis applicants must secure a confirmed supervisor before being accepted into the thesis stream.

Non-thesis option

Non-thesisÌýoptionÌýincludes a research project (CMSD 7001/7002) and extensive clinical practica, including internship and externship placements.Ìý

All graduate programs at ÿÈÕ´óÈü are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies.

Admission requirements

You'll need to meet theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirementsÌýas well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Applications for the Fall intake open in mid-September and close in mid-January. Deadlines apply to both Canadian and international applicants.


Program-specific requirements

This program requires you to meet the following criteria:

Four-year bachelor’s degreeÌý(an honours degree is a strong asset), with a minimumÌýGPA of 3.3 (B+) over your last 60 credit hours.

There areÌýno specific prerequisite courses required, allowing flexibility in your academic background.

If English is not your native language, you mustÌýdemonstrateÌýEnglishÌýproficiencyÌýunless exempt (e.g., Canadian citizens or degree completed in English).
